American Studies Major Isaac Nehring named Truman Scholar
Isaac Nehring, a Stanford junior majoring in American Studies, has been awarded the 2025 Truman Scholarship for his advocacy in rural development and land conservation. Raised in Montana, Nehring’s passion for the outdoors and public service was shaped by his upbringing and work with the Prickly Pear Land Trust. At Stanford, he leads the Stanford Rural Engagement Network, organizing events to bridge rural and urban communities and serving as co-president. His public service efforts include interning with Sen. Jon Tester of Montana, and serving on Stanford’s Undergraduate Senate. Nehring plans to pursue graduate studies in environmental management and regional planning, with a goal of returning to Montana to support rural communities. He is enthusiastic about connecting with other Truman Scholars who share his commitment to public service. Read more about Isaac and his amazing work on the Stanford Report.
