An Evening of Living History: A Conversation with Clarence B. Jones

To commemorate MLK Day, we invite you to witness living history: On January 8th the MLK Institute at Stanford will host Clarence B. Jones, MLK’s personal attorney, advisor, draft speech writer, and friend. Jones helped King draft speeches, including the “I Have a Dream” address at the March on Washington, he smuggled King’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail” out of King’s cell and to the world, and partnered with celebrities to raise bail funds for civil rights activists. Jones continued to work with King until the civil rights leader was assassinated in 1968. Join us to hear these stories and more. Book signing of Jones’s memoir The Last of the Lions to immediately follow. Books will be available for purchase.

Parking: Paid visitor parking spaces are available Via Ortega garage (located at 285 Panama Street), or Roble Garage.  Hourly and full-day parking permits may be purchased from dispensers near the stairways.
